The Child in Our Midst Season 2: What to Expect

By: Lindsey Goetz

The wait is almost over! Season 2 of the CFC Podcast, The Child in Our Midst, launches on April 7!

In Season 1 of The Child in Our Midst, we focused on foundational principles of children’s spirituality. We titled each episode in the voice of a child to illustrate the rich capacity children have for life with God and covered topics like:

These conversations helped explore and explain the foundation for the work we’ve been doing as we have established the Center for Faith and Children, and we created them hoping that you would be able to share them with the people in your life who might benefit from reflecting on how children relate to God.

We’ve been so encouraged to hear how you engage with The Child in Our Midst.

We’ve heard stories like:

  • Parents who have begun to ask their children open-ended questions about their lives with God.
  • Ministry Leaders who are encouraged and feel less alone.
  • Ministry teams who listen to the episodes together and discuss them.
  • Volunteers who are encouraged and inspired by the way God is engaging with children.
  • Parents who are inspired to begin conversations with their churches about how children are engaged in the community.

We deeply enjoyed hosting these conversations and hearing your feedback, and we’re thrilled to share Season 2 with you!

Asking for a Friend: Questions about Kids & Church is the title for Season 2, and we’re looking forward to getting into some of the common questions parents, pastors, and ministry leaders ask about kids and church.

Here are a few of the questions we’ll be tackling this season:

  • “What really matters for my kids’ faith?”
  • “What do I do if my kid thinks church is boring?”
  • “Why is it so hard to get ready for church?”

With a slate of amazing guests, we’ll explore what lies behind these questions and what they reveal to us about ourselves and our values, and after we’ve done all of that, we’ll each take a stab at answering as clearly as possible. As always, we’ve included the voices of children in every episode.

We hope you’ll follow along here on our blog, where we’ll share related content. We see this season as an essential part of reimagining church where a child’s faith flourishes, and we invite you to add your voice to the conversation.
