But is worship even developmentally appropriate for kids? What can they get out of worship?
Dr. Robbie Castleman, author of Parenting in the Pew helps us to see the worship service as a story that we can share with our children. Through her own stories, she helps us to think long-term about the investment we make when we invite children to worship. Several kids share what they think about worship.
Dr. Robbie Castleman is professor Emerita of New Testament & Biblical Studies at John Brown University. She is the author of several books including Story Shaped Worship and Parenting in the Pew. Robbie and her husband, Breck have two sons and six grandchildren.
Worship really does have a shape, and it becomes like their favorite storybook. They know how it goes, they know what comes next. As they grow up they begin to realize…it’s the story of salvation.
